The boxes, most likely from Maine, retain the original stencil and free hand decoration incorporating compotes of fruit, flowers and the initials "G. B. G.". The interiors of these dovetailed basswood boxes are lined with early wall paper. The boxes, from the first half of the 19th century, are in excellent original condition.
