Scherenschnitte By John Brown Walker

This Scherenschnitte is by John Brown Walker (1815-1908) an itinerant artist who cut fancy paper designs in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, and northeastern Ohio in the late 19th and early 20th century. This memorial to "Myrtie" is inscribed in the left oval panel below her name as follows: "Myrtie April, 2 1884. Please remember your friend. Till thy life shall end. John B Walker". The right panel has a poem but I could not decipher it. The scherenschnitte has water stains on the bottom half and the two panels are faded and difficult to read. The painted frame is old but not original. W: 12.5', H: 16.5".
