Qctorara Walnut High Chest With Removable Spanish Feet

This is a rare circa 1780 walnut high chest from the Octorara Valley region of Chester County, PA. These chests were made with removable Spanish feet that were attached to the case with large wood screws. The front feet feature a beautifully carved flower on the inside of the knee. The chest has molded overlapping drawers and Quaker locks on the top five drawers. The back and the drawer bottoms are chestnut and the drawer sides are poplar. The brasses are not original but they are appropriate and are in the original holes. There are some drawer lip patches and some small repairs to the cornice. The feet are now attached to the chest with iron bolts. An early set of wooden screws are included with the chest. W: 39.5", D: 21", H: 60.25",Case Width: 38".
