Late Eighteenth Century American Portrait of a Young Boy

This charming oil on canvas painting of a young boy holding a top was found in Pennsylvania, but is most likely from the New England States. The painting is unsigned, but is identified by an early paper label on the back to be "Grandfather Stevens when five years old. Mary R. Stevens". The frame is original and the painting is attached to the original stretcher constructed with rose head nails. There is a old repair on the boys left shoulder with a linen patch on the back of the canvas at the area of the repair. Sight W: 15", H: 17".
