The feline is sitting precariously on six carved wooden books. The bottom book has the carved signature of Jean Carrit as well a mouse peering out from the book. The bronze, which retains the original mellow patina, has glass eyes illuminated by a single light bulb in the feline's head. This late 19th century sculpture is most likely of French origin. The sculpture is in excellent original condition with a small repair to the tip of mouse's nose. Height: 18 inches.
