Connecticut Militia Infantry Uniform Circa 1820

This uniform, in attic found condition, is an extraordinary find. The bellcrown leather shako has a Hotchkiss maker's label from New Haven, CT. The coatee has sixty-two silver-plated embossed eagle infantry "I" buttons. The uniform descended in the family of Elizabeth Rohr from Easton, CT. The shako is missing the plume, half of the chinstrap scales, and the insignia above the brass eagle. The coatee has a tear under the arm, moth damage, and several old repairs. The pants have some replaced buttons, moth damage, and several old repairs. Additional photos are available.
