This hand carved poplar replica of a Staffordshire figure retains the original painted surface.  Found in Pennsylvania, this figure dates from the mid 19th century. There is wear to the paint and a lead weight was added to the bottom of the base probably for use as a doorstop. The whippet measures 11 inches in length and 8.8 inches in height.
