American Ship Captain's Liquor Chest With Folk Art Watercolor

This liquor chest, from the first half of the 19th century, contains ten continental gold decorated bottles. The box is made of poplar and retains an old brown painted surface. The interior of the lid is covered with a early piece of cloth and a watercolor on paper of an early paddlewheel ship flying an American flag. The watercolor has some staining and a 2.25" tear on the top center. Two of the bottles have damage and there is space on the interior for two additional small bottles. W: 16.5", D: 13", H: 11".
